There’s nothing more annoying when the remote of the garage door doesn’t work or only now and then.
Luckily, resetting a Merlin garage door remote is a lot easier than you might think and usually doesn’t require a call out from a garage door repair company like us. Once you have a basic understanding of the remote works, and you find your model, there is usually a simple solution at your finger tips.
Check the battery first
If your garage door remote has stopped working or only works every now and then, the first place to check is the battery. An old battery may not have the power necessary to transmit the signal to the garage door motor and its almost always the reason for a garage door to stop working. Try this as your first step and if that doesn’t fix the problems, try resetting the remote using the below instructions.
Resetting a Garage Door Remote
To get started, make sure all other components of your garage door opener are in working order. Get yourself a small or medium step ladder so you can easily reach the motor unit to test that it opens by using the settings on the motor itself. If the door itself is having trouble working (by using the button on the motor), you may have a different problem which will likely require a call out form Perth Garage Doors.
Next step, grab yourself a screwdriver (check to see what will fit) and paperclip (if the garage door motor has a recessed reset button) ready just in case.
Specific directions to reset your code can sometimes be found printed on the side of the mechanism or even the remote. Take a look here first.
